One of the two largest hard drive manufacturers Seagate just released its 6TB Seagate Enterprise Capacity 3.5 HDD v4 hard drive made primarily for 24 x 7 bulk data storage. What’s interesting is that Seagate claims that its 25% faster than its competitor’s 6TB drive, without pointing fingers directly at WD’s helium-filled 6TB Enterprise drives in the press release I’ve received. But according to other sources, Seagate didn’t require helium to each storage capacity and performance for 6TB specifically for enterprise environments, and that it will use helium ‘when its needed’.

The drive uses 7200RPM spin, followed by ramp load method that they typically use and also a humidity sensor which allows the functioning of the drive in humid conditions.

These drivers are available for SATA 6Gb/s, SAS 6Gb/s and 12Gb/s interface. The enterprise drives are available in 1TB, 2TB, 3TB, 4TB, 5TB and 6TB storage variants. The specifications can be checked out from here.
